The Olympic Ring advances in its commitment to sustainability
2023-02-27 09:15:43

The Governing Committee of the Barcelona City Council has approved the executive project to install photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Sant Jordi Club.

This installation, intended only for self-consumption, will reduce the generation of greenhouse gases of all the equipment of the Olympic Ring and start the way towards energy self-sufficiency. It is also an important step in the commitment of Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (B:SM) to reduce CO2 generation in all its buildings.

The photovoltaic installation that will be located on the roof of the Sant Jordi Club consists of 896 photovoltaic modules with a power of 430 kW. It will occupy a total area of 2,300 m2 and will generate, each year, 655,000 kWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of 200 homes in the city.

The photovoltaic installation of the Sant Jordi Club has a budget of 610,000 euros and will be ready in less than a year.
